During the late 1800s, a wealthy young girl fell in love with a sailor passing through New Orleans. However, the caddish sailor had no intention of returning the young woman’s affections. In a heartbroken frenzy, the teen ran into the lagoons of what is now City Park and hung herself in an oak tree. It is here that late at night, young lovers are often disturbed by the sound of feet dragging along their car hoods and the lovelorn cries of The Ghost of Mona Lisa Drive.
